Winter

I hate snow. I actually don't hate the actual snow. When it is falling it is kind of pretty. I hate the cold, wet, slushy, messy, dirty, millions of layers of clothes that go with the snow. If the snow would fall and not stick, I'd be ok with that too. But once it's on the ground and someone steps in it.... it goes from pretty to gross. I actually love to shovel snow though. But the worst is when people come over, or your kids come home from school and kick off their boots, and little bits of icy slush gets on the floor, but you don't see it till you step on it, and your sock gets all wet. Or if you are short like me and your jeans get all wet so you have to change the second you get in the house.

Winter just totally sucks, and I've been in denial about it coming. The brutal wind, freezing weather. I am that depressed winter person. I stay home a lot. I will usually be wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants (or leggings). There is nothing good about being cold.

But, I guess I will have plenty of time to blog! And actually read my friends' blogs which I have fallen behind on. Or a good book, now that I have so many suggestions. Thanks, by the way.

Ugggggggghhhhhh. Why does it have to be snowing????? I really hate being a home body. And I really got used to running outside. I'm gonna miss that. And the trainer said that the treadmill doesn't work your glutes like running outside does. I want to work my glutes, damn it! Anyway, enough depressing winter talk.

So I have to talk about some tv shows I watch. Shosh, I know you hate when I talk about tv, but I don't care. :)

First of all, on The Hills why are Heidi and Spencer married? They HATE each other. And why is she trying to sneak a baby into the picture when he doesn't want one? Oh and for those of you who watch, doesn't Justin remind you of Dylan from 90210 when we were younger? Next, on The City, Whitney's friend Roxy is ridiculous and is ruining her career and totally did not stand on her side with the Bergdorf showing. NOT a good friend. Get rid of her. She is too much of a party girl for her anyway.

Moving on to Nip Tuck. Christian, the most vain, obnoxious, but sexy, guy in the world having sex with a 300 pounder. Gross and so not buying it. And a little too much nudity as far as she is concerned. I felt the vomit creep up into my throat. And the whole Barbie and Ken thing.... weird and stupid.

That's all I watched last night. I will stop boring you now.

On a happier note, I did cookie art with my kids last night.

It was really fun! Just make sugar cookies as you normally would and then divide icing into separate bowls and add food coloring to each. I let them paint with paintbrushes (we only use these ones for food). The colors are so bright and pretty... too bad I have to use my camera phone cuz I don't have a real camera...it only takes good pictures outside :(

The icing recipe is:

1 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg white
3-4 drops lemon juice
food coloring

I never measure. But you want it kinda thicker, not so runny or else the cookies will get soggy. Play with it.

*If you don't want to use the egg white you can probably use a little water. You can add a drop of vanilla if you want to. I don't though.

Happy Birthday to my Sister-In-Law!

Wife Of The Year?

I think I might be up for the Wife Of The Year Award! Jon was out monday night 7:15- 9:45 (doesn't really count only kinda because he was at conferences instead of me), went to a Blackhawk's game tuesday night from 5:30 -10:50 (!!!!!), going out to a Bull's game tonight, and is going out of town this sunday till tuesday. Come on, wife of the year award? I think so!!!!!

Oh, and not to be braggy but last night, homework was done by 6. We ate dinner together, got little kids bathed and big girls showered, little ones were asleep by 7:56, and by 8 I had thrown in a load of laundry, gotten into pjs, and sat down to watch my favorite show with my favorite girls....

Biggest Loser was soooo motivating last night. I was actually crying!!!! Watching them run that marathon was so emotional and moving. I know that I am going to be so excited when I finish the half marathon! My friend called me and told me that she totally wants to run a full marathon now (she ran a half last year). I told her that if I could run the entire 13 miles, I'd train for the full with her for next year's.

Blah , blah, blah, marathon, marathon, marathon.... I'll stop now.

Did you ever see a movie that you read the book of, and felt like you had actually seen it before. I watched Angels and Demons the other night and could have sworn I had seen it before. Jon said there is no way I have because it just came out on dvd and we didn't see it in the theater. Crazy that the book is so descriptive and has such good imagery that I felt like I had seen it before!

Which brings me to the sad truth that I can't remember the last time I read a book. I read a few pages here and there but never seem to have time to read a whole one! Does anyone have any suggestions? I need the kind that you can't put down, that you stay up all night to read.... like the Time Traveler's Wife. Loved that one. Or A Child Called It. Or those Jodi Picoult goodies.
My brain needs some stimulation, hasn't been used in a while.

A Giant Tangent & Way Too Much Caffeine

Alyssa's birthday is on sunday!

My little girl will be 2 years old!

I swore off family dinners, but I am thinking about having everyone for brunch..... Hmm.

Jon doesn't want everyone to come over, but how can I not celebrate Alyssa's birthday with our families????

And I was all excited about making her cake!

Speaking of cake.....
Did you guys see Cake Boss the other night? So happy it's back on. Buddy is so great at making cakes. I wish I could do that. That venus fly trap cake could have used some leaves though. Just saying.

I watched last week's Nip Tuck last night. I give it a 10 and two thumbs up! I highly recommend it. I forgot what night it's on.... It was a little freaky though.

Biggest Loser made me cry last night. Poor Abby.... not sure I could live through her tragedy. And Shay, I mean, could a child have a worse upbringing? Get a box of tissues for this season!

The Hills... Brody is so gonna be hooking up with Kristen very soon. Cannot wait!

The City. Whitney, get over Jay. He is so not for you. And Olivia, you are ridiculous.

Ok, back to Alyssa.

Oh wait, how can I forget Mad Men. LOVE. THIS. SHOW. Don Draper is super sexy and I love him even though he cheats on his wife. all the time. with just about every woman he meets. I hope this young teacher girl doesn't go all fatal attraction on him.

And, have any of you seen the Jon and Kate plus 8 when Kate takes the 3 boys to Wyoming. Jessica and I love that one and we are planning a road trip there for the summer... so excited!

I think I watch too much tv. I should sleep more.

Oh! Guess what I found!!!! A teeny tiny red bull. It's mini and only 25 calories, so you don't have to drink the sugar free one that somehow tastes even worse than the regular one (yuck....but full of caffeine and that's what I need)!

It is only 2 ounces...

A double shot of caffeine is a great way to start the morning.

*** I just reread this and I have decided to lay off of the caffeine and take a nap. Hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Do They Want Us To Beg?

Listen FX producers, if you are gonna warn us that there is nudity and sexual situations in a tv show, you better live up to it and show us some....

Nip Tuck is what I'm talking about. I was excited all day for the season premiere... Dr. McNamara and Dr. Troy...... Dr. Christian Troy..........Mmm... Dr... Christian... Troy....

Oh, where was I? Oh yeah, so my friends and I were waiting all day for the season premiere of our favorite raunchy tv show.... I had to sit through the Blackhawks game with my husband so I could watch the second time it aired (first at 9 then at 10). Seriously 9 minutes left in the game... somehow it lasted at least 20 minutes. Oh, and I can tell you all about how the hockey puck ricocheted (seriously no idea how to spell that) off his skate and into the goal because they replayed it at least 7 times. Not to mention that I do not like watching sports, and knowing that I was missing Nip Tuck at 9 was totally killing me.

Anyway, Mario Lopez was introduced on the show and oh my freaking god... he has the most amazing abs (How do they compare to Jamie Foxx, Orah?).

He might have been the highlight of the show, along with a few funny lines and situations, but where was all the raunch we women have grown to expect and love? On a scale of raunchiness I give it an 8, which is pretty good. But when you are used to a perfect 10 every week... not so much. I mean a quick little tushy in the shower is not gonna cut it for us!

Ok. Fine. I'm over it. There is always next week.

Jon, we're even now for the VS post :)

I will be back in Mommy Mode tomorrow. I swear!

Timing Is Everything

So, I finally got Emily to go to bed last night after playing 30 minutes of math bingo.... thank you target dollar section. (I even taught her how to do division!)

Anyway, I went downstairs and turned on the tv. It was 10:15 and Mad Men was on. Yay! The season premiere! I was really excited to watch it. My father in law and husband were in the room with me. A few minutes later, Jon walked out and went into a different room, so it was just me and my father in law. We were watching a little and he kept asking questions so I gave him a little background.... "Don has been cheating on his wife and the guy sitting next to him on the plane is married, but seems to be gay..." Anyway, their plane lands and the flight attendant was flirting with Don and they all have dinner and then her and Don go upstairs to his floor and are kinda kissing in the hallway.

Thank God for commercial breaks because as they start kissing I know what's coming next and I don't really wanna watch it with just my father in law in the room. He decides during the commercial that it was late and he was going upstairs to bed.

When the show comes back on, the flight attendant is basically naked and then shockingly they switch over to the gay guy and show him in a sexual encounter with the guy that came to adjust the thermostat in the room. All I can say is thank god my father in law left when he did, cause I probably would have been fine with the first part, but the second.... I might have just died of embarrassment right then and there.

This One's For The Guys.....

Did any of you watch David Letterman last night? It was a rerun but a good one. I actually wanted the husband to see it but he was already asleep, so I taped it for him. Yes, you heard me.... I TAPED IT for him. I might be the only person in this world that still uses a VCR and LIKES it. I also don't have DVR, so maybe I would trash the VCR if it wasn't my only way to watch the shows I missed. Also, tapes don't scratch or skip. They get a little snowy after a while, but come on nothing's perfect.

Anyway, it was the one with Jonah Hill and the Baseball Stance Guy.

I've never seen any of his movies, but I thought this interview with Jonah Hill was pretty funny. So, if you have time to watch.... here you go.

Also, I am not a big baseball fan but I thought this was pretty entertaining... Those of you that are might enjoy this.... The Baseball Stance Guy.
