Sometimes Doing Nothing Means Everything

This week has gone by so fast and has been jam packed with a million things.

Happy Chanukah to all my jewish friends! Here are some things I've been up to....

This week of Chanukah has gone by so fast, I cannot believe that tomorrow is the last night. This is the first time (I think) that my kids have had school during all of Chanukah, and let me tell you.... not fun. at all. Especially when your 6th grader has 3 tests, one of them being science which she is not doing well in and you therefore have to learn all about rocks so you can help her study.

Go ahead, ask me a question about rocks. What do you want to know? I know just about everything there is to know and then some, and it is so not interesting. Igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks. I know it all.... I can tell you the different kinds of these rocks and examples of each. Oh and the life cycle of a rock. Seriously, I am soooo happy that this unit is done!

Hopefully she will do well on the test and that's all I care about now. The teacher is very hard on the kids and they have to know all the information and then be able to apply them to tricky true or false questions and essay questions. So glad I am not a kid anymore....

These days, although it can be annoying, my daily questions are more like: What should I make for dinner? Should I run outside or inside? Dominick's or Target?

And then when Alyssa comes home: How should I torture myself today... by letting her paint or play playdough? Or what should we watch Scooby Doo, Dragon Tales, or Phineas and Ferb? Should we play magna tiles or action figures? Should I make dinner?????

Life... always busy. Last weekend we slept at my mother in law's house for Shabbat/Chanukah. Saturday night was a Chanukah party at my mom's house. It went sooo late and kids went to bed after 10. Sunday was basketball, and my nephews came over in the afternoon until 7. I made latkes and donuts with dinner (which was pretty random food... not my best). The latkes were great, and the donuts looked great (nutmeg was the downfall but will try it again without the nutmeg). The kids played dreidel and decorated their own dreidels. Alyssa kinda ruined that evening by acting like a total crazy person, almost breaking Will's new remote control car that he only used for 2 hours (it's fine though, works with the broken antenna). She threw dreidels and candles everywhere, and ran around the house chasing my nephew happy screaming all over my house. God, I'm exhausted all over again just thinking about it.

Monday I ran 8 miles in the drizzly rain, and the girls ran on the treadmill in the evening! Tuesday was a Chanukah party at my sister's house, came home after 7:30 and spent the night studying for Jessica's math test. Wednesday, I visited my grandfather with Will and Alyssa because my grandmother was having surgery. Not sure he ever wants us back because Alyssa was acting like a crazy girl as usual. In the evening, we went to meet the basketball coaches and get the girls' ugly team shirts uniforms. And spent the night learning about rocks.... Boooring!

Last but not least, today. Ahhh thursday. A quiet day. Went to the mall to return a few things..... Will is having a playdate, and we are going to have a quiet night in. Nothing going on.... just the 6 of us.... just hanging out.... just the way I want it.

  3. Great pics!
What did you use in the chocolate dipped dreidels. I originally thought marshmallows w/ pretzel sticks, but how did you get the 'point'?
