An Angry Post Turned Not So Angry.....

I'm not sure you all read my blog from this morning yet, but I have an update that I must tell you all...

Around 10:00 I left a message on the voicemail of the director of the organization. I told him that Emily had decided to keep the money minus $20 that she wanted to give to them. I continued that I had no idea that a cash raffle is "supposed to be" given back to the organization. I would have never been a part of it, nor would I have asked my friends to be, if I had known that the winner was going to be coerced into letting the organization keep their prize. I said that I thought that everyone paid a lot of money just to be there and I actually felt bad being a part of the raffle that was just taking more from them, and therefore was not an actual part of the second raffle that took place. I asked him to call me back to make arrangements for Emily's prize money.

He called me back a little while later, while I was at Target.... the most public place in the world, and told me that he had no idea that people had said anything to me. That he too was under the assumption that the winner would keep the money. He was upset that I had felt guilty and was trying to take her prize away when she was doing something so nice, using her own money, in the first place. He asked me if he can write her a special note thanking her on behalf of the organization, and I told him that I think that she would be very happy if he did. He decided that he wants to give her all $180 and if she decides to give back the $20, he wants it to be her choice and not because everyone was making her feel guilty.

He has 100% restored my faith in this wonderful organization, and I am thrilled that I was able to talk openly with him about it.
